Why Was I Banned

There are numerous reasons why your account may be subject to restrictions.

All of them are listed in the License Agreement (the one you agreed to when registering), Game Rules, and Clan Rules, which are all an inalienable part of the License Agreement.

A restriction applies (ban is issued) when your actions violate the above-mentioned provisions.

Certain Restrictions

  • Activating the read-only mode – blocking the ability to send messages within the Game and through game channels for any period, from one day to a permanent (indefinite) block.
  • Restricting access to the Game, or the entire Account for any period, from one day to a permanent (indefinite) block.
  • Removal of in-game assets, in-game achievements, as well as denial of rights to Additional Features, including the right to use the in-game currency, premium vehicles, and the premium account, without compensation (including by restoring the Account to its status before the relevant violation) – if they are gained through violation of the Game Rules, the EULA, other Wargaming rules or the terms of the relevant contests and promotions.

How to Find Out Why I Was Banned

The notification of your account being penalized always contains the reference to the section and item of the Rules you violated. Examples:

  • Chat ban:

    0
  • Account ban:
newbanen

To find out what caused the ban, open the Game Rules, find the item referenced in the notification, read it carefully, and try and remember the situation that might have caused such a violation. If you are confident you haven't violated the referenced rules and that no-one else (for instance, your friends or family) has access to your account, you can always challenge the penalty.

How Long Is the Ban?

The restriction may range from one day to a permanent ban from chat or game (i.e. forever).

Detailed Description of Violations

Profanity, Obscenities, Insults

This includes:

  • Any insult to other players
  • Any use of coarse language (profanity)
  • Obscenities and offensive statements incompatible with cultured communication
There is no exhaustive list of words or statements covered by this item of the Rules. The decision to penalize is at the discretion of the game administration, who are guided by the norms of the public morals. The bulk of the profanity in the game is caught by the in-game filter.

Flood

This includes:

  • Mass-messaging with information, unsolicited by the User, that the User has no interest in or did not consent to (spam)
  • Abuse of text fragmentation (splitting the phrase into single words)
  • Repeating identical messages
  • Creating meaningless messages
  • Multiple repetition of the battle results in the game channels
  • Abusing recruiting—advertising or seeking players, groups, or tournaments (abuse is advertising from one group sooner than once in five minutes)
  • Abusing the CAPS LOCK
  • Abusing punctuation symbols
  • Abusing the in-game "emoji"
  • Posting off-topic information in the game channels
The official game and battle chat language is English. Other languages may be used in battle, tournament, clan and platoon channels and private messages.

Begging

This means requests like "Can you spare some gold", "Won't you help a brother out", or "Looking to borrow a twenty via a web wallet, will give back tomorrow".

Such begging should not be confused with soliciting private information (such as login/password) or proposals like "Let's switch accounts", which entail a more serious penalty.

Account Transfer

This means statements like "Account for sale", "Looking to sell the account with the IS-7 and Object 261 in the Garage, PM me, price upon request", "I'm sick of everything, clan for sale", "Will buy acc! No cheap offers!". Such violations are deemed to be grave ones, since they breach several rule items at once: advertising, account transfer, and disclosure of private information such as login/password.

This prohibition shall also apply to any sale and purchase of a clan.

Insult Based on a Characteristic

This item relates to profanity and insults, but here the insult targets a group of people. Typical insults of this kind might involve attacking an ethnicity, or religion/race in general.

Such a violation is considered to be a more serious one, than an individual insult, and bears a more serious penalty.

Disclosure of Third-Party Personal Information

Example: if you are playing in a platoon with someone and you know their real name, you cannot disclose their name without this person's prior consent. Personal information includes statements about one's health, income, place of residence, phone number, e-mail address, etc.

Misleading Information and Libel

This means statements like "Press Alt+F4 to switch on the headlights" (posting knowingly misleading information), "Admins would rather ban you than look into the issue", "Admins don't care" (libeling the administration), etc.

Soliciting or Extortion

This is for statements like "Your login/password or I’ll burn your house down", "Tell me your password or I'll hack into your email", etc.

Remember: admins will never ask for your login or password—this information is sought only by impostors.

Impersonating representatives of the Administration or moderators is prohibited.

Pornographic and Erotic Materials

No sexual information whatsoever is acceptable in the game due to age restrictions.

Promoting Drug and Alcohol Use

Mentioning alcohol and drugs, and related actions (also calls to such actions), is considered to be a promotion of such substances. Example: statements like "A beer would be nice", or "Don't drink beer" and etc.

Threats

These mean statements like "I'll find you and break your legs", "Tell me where you live so I can beat them up", "Someone find the devs and beat 'em up, will you?" and others that have explicit or implicit threat towards a person (or a group of persons collectively).

Advertising

This item includes the full range of advertising messages, but players get banned the most often for posting links to their own pages on social media, to videos and/or images.

No mention or discussion of other games shall be permitted.

Politics

  • Any statements that are in any way related to present-day politics (in particular, to contemporary political figures) are prohibited.
  • The attitude and tone of the message are irrelevant. For example, the phrase "Ivanov is a good president" and "Ivanov is a bad president" equally violate this paragraph of the Game Rules.

Insulting the Administration or Moderators

  • This paragraph is almost identical to that about insulting users, the only difference is that the insult is directed at the representatives of the administration, therefore the punishment is more severe.
  • Note: discussion of the actions of the administration is also prohibited. If you have any comments regarding the work of the moderators or the claim to the administration, you can submit them to Player Support.

Provoking

  • This item is very extensive and involves provocation and instigation of some players by others.
  • Example: messages like "Curse and get a cookie!", "Do you want a medal? Kill your allies!", etc.

Unsportsmanlike Behavior, Bot Herding

Types of unsportsmanlike behavior:

  • Shoving
  • Pushing out
  • Blocking
  • Locking up allied vehicles
  • Disclosing to the opposite team the whereabouts of your team's vehicles
  • Fixed battles or similar actions (except in training rooms)
A fixed battle is a battle in which a player, or a group of players, achieve hard-to-reach statistical indicators, including performance and/or assistance in performing personal missions, by collusion between the participants of both teams.
  • Levelling-up of other's accounts or other unsportsmanlike assistance
  • Blocking or other similar actions aimed at the ally's vehicle
  • Passive (pacifist) behavior towards members of another team, clan or clan alliance
Passive (pacifist) behavior is the deliberate failure to fire at an enemy tank, and coordination with the enemy team.
  • Launching more than one copy of the game on one device
  • Bot Herding—using programs that simulate the user's actions in the game (bots), clicker programs, keyboard and mouse control macros, and other similar methods of reaching in-game achievements.
This is registered by a semi-automatic system.
  • Other forms of unsporting behavior at the discretion of the administration

Messages Pertaining to Organizations and Persons Breaking the Law

Examples:

  • Nationalist statements of all kinds
  • Messages promoting the activities of terrorist organizations and their personalities, such as "For Al-Qaeda!"
  • Other types of such messages at the discretion of the administration

Prohibited Nicknames

See of the Game Rules for prohibited nicknames.

Causing Damage to the Game, the Administration of the Game, Users

  • Use of cheat programs, bot programs, forbidden game mods, geodata (maps) bugs, exploiting vulnerabilities of the game client, webpages, etc.
  • Mentioning forbidden mods, bot programs, bugs, as well as their discussion in chat rooms.

Obtaining In-Game Assets Through the Breach of the Game Rules

Obtaining in-game assets, in-game achievements, as well as in-game currency, Premium vehicles, Premium Accounts, and other additional items of the Game in violation of the Game Rules, the License Agreement, other Wargaming rules or the rules of specific specials and contests.

Dissemination of Confidential Game Information

Only the information that was officially made public by the project administration can be disseminated.

Use of the Game in Ways Not Provided for by the License Agreement and the Game Rules

Use of the Game in ways not provided for by the License Agreement and the Game Rules, other Wargaming rules, and otherwise not in line with the normal gameplay.

Violation of the Law and Moral Standards

There is no exhaustive list of statements covered by this item—these are treated on a case-by-case basis by the administration and Player Support staff.

Using Prohibited Clan Names, Tags, Slogans, and Descriptions

See item 11 of the Clan Rules for prohibited clan names, tags, slogans, and descriptions. This paragraph lists all the prohibited variants of names, tags, slogans, and descriptions of clans and the liability that the violation of this clan rules item entails.

The names, tags, slogans, and descriptions of clans that implicitly belong to the prohibited list are also prohibited.
