How to add the game to antivirus exceptions
- Right-click 'Start' in the lower left corner of the screen. Click 'Settings' in the pop-up menu.
- A Windows settings window will open. Select 'Update & Security'.
- In the left pane, select 'Windows Defender', then click 'Windows Defender Security Center'.
- Select 'Virus & threat protection'.
- In the resulting window, select 'Virus & threat protection settings'.
- Scroll down until you find the "Exclusions" option. Click 'Add or remove exclusions'.
- In the resulting window, click the plus icon next to "Add an exclusion". Select 'Folder' in the pop-up menu.
- Specify the path to the folder where the game is installed (e.g. D:\Games\World_of_Tanks) and click "Select folder" in the lower right corner.
- You have added the game folder to the exclusions list. Leave the settings window by clicking the arrow icon in the upper left corner.
- To avoid problems when connecting to the servers, we recommend that you create exclusions in Windows Firewall.
How to add the game to firewall exclusions
- Right-click 'Start' in the lower left corner of the screen. Click 'Settings' in the pop-up menu.
- A Windows settings window will open. Select 'Update & Security'.
- In the left pane, select 'Windows Defender', then click 'Windows Defender Security Center'.
- Select 'Firewall & network protection'.
- Click 'Allow an app through firewall' in the bottom left list.
- On the right side of the window, above the list of apps, click 'Change settings'. Then click 'Allow another app...' in the lower right corner.
- The "Adding an app" window will appear. In the lower right corner, click 'Browse...'.
- Specify the path to the WorldOfTanks.exe file (it can be found in the folder with the installed game, e.g. D:\Games\World_of_Tanks) and click 'Open'.
- The file will appear in the list. Click 'Network types'. In the resulting window, check both types—private and public—and click 'OK'.
- You are back at the window where you can add apps. World of Tanks has appeared in the list. Click 'Add' at the bottom of the window.
- Click 'Allow another app...' in the lower right corner.
- The "Adding an app" window will appear. In the lower right corner, click 'Browse...'.
- Specify the path to "cef_browser_process.exe". To do this, enter the folder where the game is installed (D:\Games\World_of_Tanks), open the "res" folder, and select the cef_browser_process.exe file.
- The file will appear in the list. Click 'Network types'. In the resulting window, check both types—private and public—and click 'OK'.
- The "World of Tanks Chromium Embedded Browser" file has appeared in the window for adding apps. Click 'Add'.
- All the required apps have been added to firewall exclusions. Click 'OK'.
- You have successfully configured Windows Defender and Windows Firewall.
