As of March 6, 2025, you can link your Steam account to your existing Wargaming.net account. This means that you can start playing on Steam using your current Wargaming.net account. You can link your accounts when you first launch World of Tanks via Steam or in the Account Management section on the game portal.
If you are a new player, when you first launch the game via Steam, you will have two options:
- Create a new Wargaming.net account.
- Link your existing Wargaming.net account to Steam.
If you already have a World of Tanks game account, you will have two options when launching the game via Steam:
- Continue with an account that is already linked to Steam.
- Link your existing Wargaming.net account to Steam.
Select one of the options and follow the suggested steps.
If you encounter an account conflict, please read this article.
After synchronizing your accounts and fixing potential issues, you will be able to continue playing World of Tanks using a single Wargaming.net account.
If you already have Wargaming.net and Steam accounts for World of Tanks, then when you launch the game via Steam, you can continue with an account that is already linked with this platform, or link your existing Wargaming.net account to Steam. If you skip the linking step on the first launch, you can do it later in Steam or WGC. Also note that you cannot transfer your progress from one account to another.
If necessary, you can unlink your accounts using the corresponding feature in the Account Management section of the game portal.
You can select your preferred language on the World of Tanks page in the Steam Library. To do this:
- Click the settings icon in the lower right corner of the game banner. Then select Properties from the drop-down list.
- Go to the Language menu and select the required option from the list.
- If you already have the World of Tanks game client installed, you may need to download a small update to the language packs.
After launching the game, you will need to merge your Wargaming.net account or create a new one. For Steam, this procedure is simplified. The account will be automatically created and linked to your Steam profile. You can use the in-game name of your Steam account (if it is not used in World of Tanks) or select another one.

If you have already played via Steam or your Wargaming.net account is linked to this platform, the game will detect the existing link. You will be prompted to continue using the same account or link another existing Wargaming.net account.
